Don't Try To Save Me

Don't try to save me!

For my burden, my darling, is not meant for you.

It is for me to bear.

I don’t need a saviour.

I am no damsel in distress.

Don’t try to save me,

For you will be like a moth, being drawn to a flickering flame .

I know I seem to need your saving.

But it is all a siren's song, a tempting call,

But beneath the surface, dangers sprawl.

Don't try to save me!

For in rescuing me, you may feel the strain.

What use will you be to me when we are both down?

Like Atlas bearing the weight of the world,

To save me, my darling, will leave you twirled.

So let me wander, let me roam, let me swing and miss, let me knit and hit,

And in my darkness, I’ll see the day.

For in my journey, I'll find my way.

I'll find my home.
